The story
The Windsor Palace stands on the corniche west of Saad Zaghloul Square, at the corner of El Shohada Street. The hotel dates its story to 1906: according to its operator, the building was a late nineteenth-century residence that became a hotel that year.
Its operator describes the architecture as English in style, with hand-decorated ceilings and antique furnishings, and several of its public rooms still bear the names of British monarchs.
The hotel remains in operation, run today by the Paradise Inn group, and its façade forms part of the Eastern Harbour streetscape. Access to its facilities follows hotel rules; an exterior walk offers a view of its architecture.
