General guidance
General rules: Licence to demolish buildings not at risk of collapse
These are the rules for this kind of request as stated in the law and in official and published sources — not a replacement for the district’s catalogue entry above. Details can differ for your request; check with the district before you apply.
How to apply
- 1The demolition licence application is submitted to the competent administrative body by the owner or his legal representative, signed by him and by a syndicate-registered (civil or architectural) engineer, with the documents set by the regulations (Art. 6).
- 2The applicant pays an inspection and issue fee not exceeding EGP 1,000 (Art. 6).
- 3The administrative body issues a reasoned decision within thirty days of the application, approved by the governor within fifteen days (Art. 7).
- 4The owner appoints a syndicate-registered engineer to supervise and contracts a specialised contractor; demolition may not start until at least two weeks after notifying the administrative body (Art. 8).
