Through August 2026 the district ran large morning and evening campaigns against street encroachment with the utilities unit — at Mahatet El Raml, on the Corniche, Lagiteh Street, El Azarita, Moharram Bek, Ghorbal and El Hadara El Gedida — keeping a standing presence to stop encroachments returning.

One major campaign at Mahatet El Raml, checking closing hours and shop licences, sealed 21 premises. Another closed 6 cafés and shops, collected EGP 140,000 in on-the-spot fines, issued 37 violation reports and destroyed 62 kg of unfit food.

Four cafés on Sotir and Safeya Zaghloul streets were also sealed for occupying the pavement and breaking closing hours, a shop in a heritage building on Fouad Street was stopped for fitting an awning without the heritage authority’s approval, and order was restored on Nabi Daniel Street and Misr Station square.
